On Friday, TopWire Hop Project will be host to the awards ceremony for the Best of the West Coast IPA National Throwdown. Then on Saturday, we ask you to swing by The BeerMongers to show some support for Nile Johnson of Day One Distribution that is recovering from a terrible motorcycle crash. The Mongers will be hosting a silent auction for Nile.

There are these events and a whole lot more taking place this weekend. Learn more from our top picks that are all listed below!

Von Bobby Golden Mild Release Party
Thursday,  August 3 – 4:00-8:00pm
Away Days and Von Ebert Brewing collaborate on a new beer, Von Bobby Golden Mild and this one will be released to help usher in the weekend ahead.

Von Bobby is said to be a true collaboration of styles, blending the Away Days approach to English ales with Von Ebert’s expert knowledge of hop varieties. This one was brewed with an English Malt base while Saphir hops were used for a grassy character along with Mandarina Bavaria for a bright and punchy citrus finish. At just 4.2% ABV, Von Bobby sounds like it’ll be quite crushable!

Beginning today, Von Bobby will be available at the Away Days taproom on draft, cask and packaged in cans to go, as well as a special tea-infused cask pin, made just for this event.

Last week, Nile Johnson of Day One Distribution experienced a serious motorcycle accident. He was hit in North Portland as an uninsured driver pulled out in front of him that caused him to flip over the hood and across the car onto the pavement, knocking him unconscious.

This crash has left Nile in the hospital with multiple fractured vertebrae in his back, a broken right kneecap, a broken left tibia, and a broken finger.
