Ex-Novo Hires New Head Brewer, Jason Barbee

PORTLAND, OR – Ex Novo Brewing Co. has hired Jason Barbee as their new head brewer, effective December 15, 2014. Jason brings an outstanding brewing background as a brewer at Portland’s Deschutes pub since 2009. Jason was responsible for brewing the majority of the beer that the Portland brewery produced, including beers from Deschutes’ core lineup, seasonal releases, and R&D trials for the Bend facility. He has a degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology which will certainly help maintain Ex Novo’s standards in quality control and help launch their sour beer program.

Jason will be the leader of the brewing team, and will be critical in Ex Novo’s future as it grows its presence in Portland and is considering options for growth and distribution. He is a native Portlander with a young family and has a wonderful personality that will be a great fit for Ex Novo. “I am so excited to bring Jason on as our Head Brewer.
