The Commons Brewery of Southeast Portland have announced that they are bottling the first round of brews. The inaugural beer to be made available will be Brotherly Love, an 8.7% ABV Belgian-style Dark Strong Ale aged in a Heaven Hill bourbon barrel. The beer will feature red tart cherry and roasted Peruvian cocoa nibs.

The Commons BreweryBrewer/owner Michael Wright says the beer will be released in a short run of 750ml capped bottles that will be bottle conditioned and slated for release exclusively in the tasting room (1810 SE 10th Ave, Unit E, Portland, OR) sometime in early March. “It’s a super short run of about 150 or 175 bottles” says Wright. Wright informs us that shortly thereafter The Commons will bottle their popular Flemish Kiss, an American ale with Brettanomyces, and then their Urban Farmhouse Ale, a food friendly Saison. “We are looking to get new accounts set up and rolling around Portland by the end of March” Wright tells us. The price for these bottles has not yet been established.

For those interested in trying The Commons’ Brotherly Love, the beer will be made available on draught at Saraveza‘s 3rd Annual My Beery Valentine sponsored by Brewpublic. This event will take place on Sunday February 12, 2012 beginning at 11AM. For more details, check out our events page here. Saraveza is located at 1004 N. Killingsworth St. in Portland, OR.
