Oregon Fermentation Festival at Kruger's Farm

The science of fermentation continues to grow across many different entities and residents of Portland will be able too see this first hand at the inaugural Oregon Fermentation Festival. This first year festival will take place on Sunday, September 20 at Kruger’s Farm on Sauvie Island, just 15 minutes from downtown Portland.

The Oregon Fermentation Festival is a daylong, family-friendly, outdoor celebration of fermented foods and beverages. The festival will feature multiple stages with dynamic speakers and entertainment, along with its signature DIY workshops and demos, a Makers Marketplace, a Do-it-yourself pickle station, and more! The festival kicks off at 10:00am and will end at 5:00pm.

Oregon Fermentation Festival will feature the following:

  • A Makers Marketplace showcasing the Pacific Northwest bounty of local food makers and brewers
  • An Ambrosia Garden (21+) featuring local and regional fermented beverages such as cider, mead, beer and wine
  • Workshops and presentations given by local and regional fermentation experts covering how and why to make and eat fermented foods and beverages
  • Keynote address by Tara Whitsitt of Fermentation on Wheels
  • Live Music and Entertainment
  • A Do-It-Yourself Pickling station where you make and take home your own jar of pickles!

Organizers expect to sell out, so it is highly encourage to purchase tickets to the Festival in advance.

A portion of the proceeds from the Festival will be donated to Old McDonald’s Farm, a 68-acre non-profit farm in the Columbia River Gorge that combines animals, agriculture, gardens and natural resources to provide educational enrichment for all children in a safe and secure farm setting.
