Hitting the marketplace in mid-November will be American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA, the latest collaboration between Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and the legendary Grateful Dead. This new Hazy IPA marks the third version of American Beauty, named after the Grateful Dead’s fifth studio album that featured the song Ripple written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter.

American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA is an unfiltered IPA brewed with spelt and a special yeast variety that’s designed to bring forth more hop aromatics. The use of the ancient heirloom spelt grain contributes earthy notes and a natural haze to this IPA. At 7.0% ABV, this New England-style IPA offers up notes of tropical fruit and juicy citrus. American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA will be available year-round in 6pk/12oz cans throughout Dogfish Head’s 45-state distribution footprint beginning in mid-November.

“As a self-proclaimed beer geek with a music problem, I couldn’t be happier about the continuation of our awesome partnership with the Grateful Dead and our collaborative efforts to develop American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA,” said Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head, in a statement. “Just as the Dead say, ‘there is a road, no simple highway’ – our journey to develop the perfect recipe for American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA was a lengthy one, but we ‘put our money where our love is’ and eventually arrived at our flavor destination.”

The packaging of American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA pays tribute to some of the artwork that the Grateful Dead is known for. This new Hazy IPA features original, kaleidoscopic artwork of the Grateful Dead’s iconic dancing bears holding a festive balloon adorned with the band’s logo.

Back in 2013, Dogfish Head first partnered with the Grateful Dead on American Beauty Imperial Pale Ale (9.0% ABV) in 750mL bottles. Then five years later in 2018, the two came together on American Beauty Pale Ale (6.5% ABV) in 6-pack, 12oz bottles. This year, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA debuts with an all new recipe, artwork and package in 6-pack, 12oz cans.
