With a new location the St. Johns Winter Beer Fest returns to the outer reaches of Portland in the heart of St. Johns from Friday, December 9th through Sunday, December 11th. Now in its sixth year, the festival moves from its former home at Plew’s Brews to the former Central Hotel location located at 8608 N Lombard at the Plaza in St Johns. Each day the festival opens at Noon and will run until Midnight on Friday and Saturday and then on Sunday the fest ends at 6:00pm.

Entry to the St. Johns Winter Beer Fest is $10 for a glass and then 3 oz. tastes are $1.00 per ticket. This year festival organizer, Trevor Thurston, has secured Urban German and Ash Woodfired Pizza to be the fest’s food providers. Also happening on the Saturday just down the hill from the St. Johns Winter Beer Fest is the Humbug Lager Fest at Occidental Brewing.

Pono Brewing – Tropical Thunder IPA
A unique and refreshing twist on an American favorite. Despite what your tastebuds tell you, there is no fruit in this beer. The flavors and aromatics come from both the hops and our special yeast blend courtesy of the great people over at Imperial Organic Yeast. 6.2% ABV

Vanguard Brewing – LPR Imperial Stout
A sweet, roasty, and creamy Oatmeal Imperial Stout. This a big stout that goes down very smooth. A wintertime favorite that has 100 lbs.of locally gathered clover honey in the boil. 8.5% ABV

Alesong Brewing & Blending – Four Brothers Belgian Quad
Let the quiet calm of abbey life envelope you as you contemplate the Belgian-style quad in front of a crackling fire. Notes of fig, ripe fruit, and brown sugar punctuate the aroma, while flavors of fruity and spicy Belgian yeast intertwine with the elevated alcohol warmth. 10.2% ABV

Royale Brewing – Jol Winter Ale
A Holiday spiced ale. The Inspektor Red Ale aged in French Oak for three months with Cloves, Cinnamon, Vanilla Bean, Allspice, Nutmeg, Ground Ginger, and Orange Zest. 6.0% ABV

Lucky Labrador Brewing – Guy Noir, Private Rye
Belgian Dubbel Rye aged in pinot noir barrels for 6 months. 9.0% ABV

Ecliptic Brewing – Third Orbit Anniversary Ale
Brewed to celebrate our Third Anniversary, this imperial porter is brewed with 22 lbs of cherries per barrel. 7 malts along with Columbus, Amarillo, Chinook, and Cascade hops complement for a balanced cherry flavor. 9.0% ABV

Ancestry Brewing – Imperial Stout
Big, Bold, Smooth. Our patriarch of beer can warm the coldest in the family. Dark chocolate, dark fruit and coffee notes envelop your palate for a truly enjoyable quaff. 10.0% ABV

Block 15 – Figgy Pudding
Strong Ale Matured in Brandy Barrels & Conditioned w/ Spices. Our winter holiday offering, Figgy Pudding is an English-style strong ale brewed with black strap molasses and a blend of English pale and specialty malts, producing rich notes of caramel, toasted nuts, dark fruits, and a hint of bittersweet chocolate. 10.5% ABV

10 Barrel Brewing Portland – Saison Trois
Two different yeast strains were used to ferment this beautiful and delicate saison. Saccharomyces “ Bruxellensis” Trois provides characteristics of mango and pineapple while also lending a slightly tart finish. The farmhouse strain compliments the “Trois” perfectly with its contribution of complex ester and earthy/spicy notes. 5.0% ABV

Russian Imperial Stout 10.0T ABV

Zoiglhaus Brewing – Nikolaus
German Pilsner, Wheat, Munich, Caramel, Carapils, and Carafa malts were selected to work their magic with a secret blend of gingerbread spices and a splash of German Magnum and Hersbrucker hops. 5.1% ABV

Three Mugs – Scotch Ale
A taproom favorite when it comes around, this big, bad Scotch ale will warm you up on these cool winter nights! 9.5% ABV

Oregon Mead & Cider – Free Press Dry Cider
Crisp, dry, tanby, Grown up hard cider from Northwest Apples. 6.5% ABV

Oregon Mead & Cider – Worker Raspberry Sparkling Mead
A semi-sweet, complex mead with delicate notes of fresh raspberry. 6.25% ABV

Cider Riot! – Rudy’s Cranberry Hibiscus Cider
Made with cold-pressed Northwest cranberry juice from Starvation Alley Farms, local apples, and Mexican Hibiscus flowers, Rudy’s is sure to bring a sparkle to your evening. 6.0% ABV

Vertigo Brewing – Barrel Aged Left, Nut Brown
Aged in Big Bottom Distilling Barrels, Our American Brown Ales is brewed with Golden Promise for the nutty character, tempered with an abundance of Crystal 120, Munich, and Chocolate malts. Northern Brewer, Mt. Hood hops with five pounds of honey per barrel. 9.1% ABV

Alameda Brewing – Cookies for Papas
What’s better than milk and cookies? Cranberry chocolate chip cookie beer! Starting with its Papa’s Olde Ale, the brewers bumped up the ABV and body with honey malt and oats. They then added cranberries, cocoa nibs and bourbon vanilla beans to create a sweet holiday treat. 8.0% ABV

Heater Allen Brewing – Sandy Paws
Sandy Paws is a Baltic Porter, rich and malty with slightly spicy notes. 7.4% ABV

Seven Brides Brewing – Drunkle
Premium malt and Northwest hops blend to create flavors of toffee, caramel, and chocolate in this delicious winter treat. 10.0% ABV

Seven Brides Brewing – Monki Love
An unique Polish Imperial Stout with complex, roasty flavors. 11.0% ABV

Occidental Brewing – Pilsner
Occidental’s take on the lager style that changed the beer world forever, this is a largely Bohemian style pilsner with a bit of Bavarian pedigree. 4.8% ABV

Fort George – May The Oats Be With You Oatmeal Stout
The dark side is strong in stouts, but the force of oats creates a balance that pulls you from the depths of darkness. Vast amounts of oats were added for a fuller body, minimizing the bitterness that can come from darker malts. Brewed with all European hops to lend a nice earth and spice character. 7.35% ABV

Culmination Brewing – Kriek Mythology 2016
This light bodied Kriek is a blend of two thirds tart pie cherries and one third sweet cherries. The base beer was conditioned in pinot barrels for 6 months, then conditioned on whole cherries for 2 months which lends aromas of dark fruit and baking spice. 7.0% ABV
