Rogue Ales has partnered with Portland State University with its own beer, Portland State IPA along with having a location on the PSU campus. Now the longtime Oregon brewer is set to partner with the University of Portland with the forthcoming Portland Pilots Pale Ale.

Charged with providing their alma-mater its very own brew, two former Portland Pilots who now work at Rogue Ales, Danny Connors and Anna Abatzoglou, created Pilots Pale Ale. Rogue’s Innovation Brewer Danny Connors is a former Pilot men’s soccer player while Director of Marketing Anna Abatzoglou was a volleyball player on The Bluff. On Saturday, November 11, 2017, Rogue Hall will tap Portland Pilots Pale Ale at 7:00pm in time for when the University of Portland host Portland State University in an early season NCAA Basketball game.

Dedicated to Portland’s college on the bluff, Pilots Pale Ale is a tribute to the University of Portland’s mascot, the riverboat Pilots. Made by Pilots for Pilots, this hazy golden colored ale delivers an initial fruity hop flavor, slight malt sweetness that ends with a crisp bitterness.

“I’m very excited with this partnership with Rogue Ales, and specifically, the connection with two of our former student athletes,” University of Portland Vice President for Athletics Scott Leykam said. “We are very excited for the launch at this Saturday’s men’s basketball season opener.”

“It’s an honor and privilege to brew Pilots Pale Ale,” said Rogue Innovation Brewer and former Portland Pilot Danny Connors. “School spirit never graduates.”

The game between city rivals University of Portland and Portland State University begins at 7:00pm at the Chiles Center in North Portland. Rogue Hall will be streaming the game so make sure to arrive early to grab a good seat for the live stream.
